Windows 10 slows down again due to updates
Windows 10 users again complain of problems. This time they are associated with updates KB4535996, KB4540673, and possibly KB4551762, which were released in late February and early March. It is reported that on some configurations they may cause a slowdown in system boot.
It is about slowing down the load or working time while performing common tasks.
Testing showed that most often the problem is caused by the “nine hundred and ninety-sixth” patch. If this happens, it is recommended that you check for one of the above three updates or all of them, and then remove them.
So far, Microsoft has not released a patch and did not give exhaustive comments, so it remains unclear exactly what causes the problem itself. It can be drivers, certain system components, and so on.
For manual removal, you need to do this:
Open system settings with a combination of Windows + I buttons or through the Start menu
Under Updates and Security> View Update Log. In the window that opens, check for the presence of KB4535996 and delete it
Reboot OS
If the problem persists, repeat the same steps for KB4540673 and KB4551762
