U.S. duty warship infected with Roosevelt 3 sailor confirmed

The U.S. Navy reported today that three confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 were found on the aircraft carrier Roosevelt deployed in the Pacific Ocean. U.S. officials say this is the first time a case has been found on a US warship on a mission.

Fox News, which was the first to report the news, mentioned that the USS Theodore Roosevelt on the Nimitz-class ship had about 5,000 naval officers and soldiers. Sailors have limited living space on board, sleeping in single beds in cabins.

The American magazine Business Insider reports that three sailors who tested positive for the virus have been quarantined and disembarked, and everyone they have contacted is also quarantined.

“This is an example of our ability to maintain ships at sea even after the detection of a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in 2019,” said Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly. He also stated that the Navy ’s comprehensive warfare Force is still on alert.

“Our ships are sailing, our fighters are flying, and training is ongoing to defend the interests of the United States and the interests of all our allies and partners around the world,” he said.

This is the first 2019 case of coronavirus disease commonly known as Wuhan pneumonia on a warship on duty.

The Navy previously reported that some of the sailors assigned to the calling ships were sick. As of March 22, there have been at least a dozen cases of warships moored in the port of San Diego.

The 7th Fleet of the United States said on the 21st that members of the Navy’s Forward Deployment Preventive Medicine Team and the Naval Medical Research Center have boarded several ships deployed on the Pacific Ocean.
