The legendary patriarch of Kislev, Tzar Boris Bokha, has been confirmed by Creative Assembly as the tenth legendary lord of Total War: Warhammer 3. Tzar Boris Bohka, also known as Boris Ursus, is the father of the already confirmed legendary lord Tzarina Katarin, and the narrator from the official trailer for Total War: Warhammer 3, but its official inclusion as a playable legendary lord is a pleasant surprise.

Within official Warhammer lore, there is no Kislev without the man known as the Red Tsar. When the nation was at its weakest, Tzar Bohka emptied his family’s coffers in a last-ditch attempt to defeat Kislev of Abominations. Leading the poor nation against goblins, beastmen, and other wretched hellish creatures that roamed his field, Kislev defeated atrocities while protecting the ever-present winter threat from the north.

Its inclusion in the third and final chapter of the Total War: Warhammer trilogy is Creative Assembly’s nod to Kislev’s history as a northern cornerstone, showcasing his ability to take Warhammer’s expansive and complex lore at the pace of the game. development. That said, Tzar Bohka officially passed away in 2517 IC; Creative Assembly relayed this with the announcement that the Tzar is being “released from hibernation”.

Whether Tzar Bohka will be riding his equally legendary Urskin into battle remains to be seen, but with the inclusion of bear mounts for other units, and considering Urskin’s importance in official lore, that’s not far off. Tzar Bohka’s legendary Shard Blade is easily seen in Creative Assembly’s tweet.

The Red Tzar will not be immediately available to play as a Legendary Lord in Total War: Warhammer 3. Players must first unlock the character by playing a quest as Tzarina Katarin after holding Praag, Kislev, and Erengrad for ten turns in total. This makes Kislev the only faction at launch that will offer three separate Legendary Lords; appropriate considering the history of the land, and its importance in warding off the forces of Chaos.
