Scientists have recorded gravitational waves of unknown origin

Scientists believe they have discovered an “unexpected” surge in gravitational waves coming from an uncertainplot of space. Michael Merrifield, professor of astronomy at the University of Nottingham, called this event “strange.” The signal was recorded by the LIGO Observatory device, the most sensitive detector of distortions in space-time tissue.

Astronomers have only a rough ideaabout what part of the cosmos this surge came from, and they will look for additional information by studying this area. But at the moment, little information indicates what could have caused an explosion that sent ripples through the fabric of the universe. Researchers put forward their hypothesis only after preliminary research.

Astronomers first found a huge wave of gas in space

Astronomers note that the successful detection of gravitational waves will allow them to explore the universe in a completely different way. These bursts will show what processes occur in different parts of space.

November 12, it became known that scientists from missionsLIGO / Virgo first recorded gravitational waves, the source of which is a single object. Until now, researchers have observed only fluctuations in space-time, the cause of which was the merger of black holes, neutron stars or other paired objects. The strange cosmic single signal S191110af later turned out to be interference in the frequencies that were recorded by the LIGO gravitational-wave observatory.
