Researchers at Stanford University created a drone called PigeonBot, parts of which are coveredreal pigeon feathers.
Journalists are already writing that this development can change the future of aircraft.
“We ended the idea that a person should control every degree of freedom, and I think future aircraft will use it,” one of its authors told about the development.
The new drone has artificial wings covered40 pigeon feathers. Parts of the wings are connected by synthetic elastic ligaments. If you change the location of these parts in flight, you can adjust the shape of the wing so that the device makes sharp turns in the air, like a real bird.
The wings of the drone also contain certain particles embedded near the feathers. They allow the feathers to be at the right distance from each other.
