Samsung to quadruple foldable display production in 2020
Samsung plans to increase its foldable display production capacity to 1 million units per month by the end of the year, which is four times its current production. The South Korean tech giant currently draws 260,000 foldable displays per month and plans to reach the level of 600,000 foldable displays per month by the end of May. The new report comes from South Korea’s ET News, whose estimates are based on data from industry representatives.
When Samsung launched the Galaxy Fold last year, it marveled at everyone. Of course, after some fatal manufacturing defects in the first devices, it took months to figure them out. But once you figure it out, the Galaxy Fold is one of those landmark devices that will change the industry forever.
AMOLED screens have perforations for 10MP selfie cameras, while dual 12MP cameras look promising. Z Flip also retains some of the flagship Galaxy’s charging features, such as wireless charging and Power Share (reverse wireless charging). The 3,300 mAh battery seems a bit small.
According to their sources, Samsung Display is seeing increasing demand from Chinese smartphone manufacturers for their flexible display solutions. The South Korean high-tech conglomerate also plans to expand its display manufacturing facilities in Vietnam in response to growing demand.
