Phones with snapdragon processors:1 billion Android phones at stake: Snapdragon
Android phones with Snapdragon processors continue to increase day by day. These processors signed by Qualcomm, which has made a name for itself especially in the middle and upper segment, were described as “dangerous” by a security firm called Check Point.
Why are Android phones with Snapdragon processors in danger?
Security experts working at this security company stated that at least 1 billion Android phones are vulnerable. Experts said there are more than 400 vulnerabilities in Snapdragon processors .
Check Point, in its report on this research, underlined that Snapdragon processors can unintentionally cause an Android-based phone to be turned into a spying tool. Malicious people can interfere with the phones of users who download videos containing viruses or infected applications.
A person carrying out this attack could render the victim’s smartphone unresponsive. In addition, it can make all important content on this phone such as photos, videos and contact information permanently unavailable, and can determine the location of this person and listen to him.
Such dangerous software can be completely hidden and turned into software that cannot be removed. Notifying users with this information, Check Point shared the detected vulnerabilities with the public: CVE-2020-11201, CVE-2020-11202, CVE-2020-11206, CVE-2020-11207, CVE-2020-11208 and CVE-2020- 11209.
Qualcomm spoke about the report released by Check Point. The US-based firm said it is working devotedly to detect and eliminate security vulnerabilities. According to Qualcomm, there are currently no exploited vulnerabilities.
Check Point stated that Snadpragon processors are common in the world and added that it is defined as an indispensable processor in the USA. The security firm stated that Snapdragon processors have a market share of 40 percent worldwide and 90 percent in the USA .
