Optimized for Xbox Series X – Microsoft explains seal of approval in more detail
When the Xbox Series X is released at the end of the year, many games will advertise “Optimized for Xbox Series X”. But what exactly is this information, and which games have already been confirmed under this program? Microsoft has commented on the company’s own blog.
In addition to SSD, ray tracing, SSD, 4K, SSD, 60 fps and other keywords such as SSD, which are used eagerly by the PR departments from Sony and Microsoft, there are other innovations that are coming up in the course of the upcoming console generation the players are waiting. One of them is Microsoft’s “Optimized for Xbox Series X” program.
Numerous technical gimmicks
As part of a detailed blog post , the Redmond group has commented on the seal of approval. According to Microsoft, games with this information and the associated icon on the cover were either designed from scratch for the Xbox Series X or at least comprehensively ported to the new technical platform, so that in both cases the advantages of the more powerful console come into play.
In addition to a native 4K resolution, Microsoft understands such things as lightning-fast – or even completely gone – loading times, ray tracing features based on DirectX 12 Ultimate and refresh rates up to 120 fps. 3D audio effects and realistic reflections are also mentioned, especially thanks to DX12 Ultimate. The list of confirmed games that will join the program for release is particularly interesting:
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Bright Memory Infinite
- Call of the Sea
- Chivalry 2
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Destiny 2
- DiRT 5
- FIFA 21
- Gears 5
- Halo Infinite
- Hitman 3
- Madden NFL 21
- Marvel’s Avengers
- Scarlet Nexus
- Second Extinction
- The Ascent
- The Medium
- Vampires: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
- WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
- Uncertainty about the future is uncertain
The technical and visual improvements were also summarized in a short trailer that Microsoft has also published. It remains to be seen how many games will ultimately come under this seal. It cannot be ruled out that large AAA titles in particular will be missed the logo as a PR measure.
