Want to watch MKV video stored in your Files app on your iPad? Make it prettyeasy. You can view video files of this format directly on your tablet.
By default, the Files application cannot play MKV videos, however you can change this by downloading one free application.
How to watch MKV videos in Files on iPad
Download the VLC app from the App Store to your iPad, it’s free.
Open the Files app and find the video you want.
Select a video and click the share button.
Select “Open in VLC” to open the video in the previously downloaded application.
In the VLC application, you can watch a video, pause it, rewind it, etc.
Note: Sometimes, you first need to select the option “Copy to VLC” in the “Share” menu, and then try again and select “Open in VLC”.
You will have to choose a VLC application every time you want to watch MKV video through Files.
In iPadOS 13, in this way you can watch videos even from local network servers.
