Conflicting content is constantly published on what news or account internet users should believe. In this article, I will explain how I verify an account or news with my own methods.

For fake accounts: watch out for the blue tick!
Publicly known accounts, such as important individuals, institutions, and companies, are usually verified by those platforms. For example, our Minister of Health Mr. Fahrettin Koca’s Twitter account is a verified account and all tweets posted from this account are considered to be written by our Minister. So this account is really managed through our minister.

Blue tick is a feature available on almost all platforms. Therefore, you can believe that the people who make the explanations made from accounts with blue tick are real.

So what do we do for accounts without any verification feature?

The verification features of the social media platforms are completely left to their own initiative. Frankly, I know many celebrities who are waiting to be verified, except for political people. In this case, let me briefly explain what we do;

First of all, I search for other social media accounts of that person. I especially pay attention to whether Instagram and Twitter platforms are synchronized with each other . I check the data such as user name, posts made, date of opening Twitter profile and make my decision accordingly. Especially recently, there are many fake accounts opened on behalf of our doctors. While reading the description of a doctor here, I definitely consider the profile name and other social media accounts. Also, if the content produced is a very sensitive subject, I make sure to read its comments. Because the comments made are sometimes in the nature of deciphering fake accounts.I expect the same data to be published on several more reliable accounts for accounts that share numbers and current information.

It is useful to be selective in news sources. When you find some news too exaggerated, you can check out other sources and check whether they have been confirmed at least through different sources.

Now let’s come to the crooks. Especially fraudsters who use Twitter platform heavily try to defraud people with the names of known brands or institutions. In order not to fall into these traps, it is enough to pay attention to simple details.

First of all, you should immediately suspect the accounts that say they will give you money. You can verify the authenticity of these accounts by looking at their profile name. In the example I gave above, let’s pay attention to the profile name of a fake account that tries to make itself look like an E-GOVERNMENT account. Below you can see the original account;

As you can see, there is a serious difference. While one is a verified account, the other is not official on any subject. Therefore, you should not click on any of the content directed by the accounts stating that they will pay you in some way. I personally complain as these accounts coincide. I suggest you use this function too.

Especially for the accounts trying to defraud the counterfeit of bank accounts, the first thing to do is to make sure that the accounts are verified. All bank accounts are currently verified by platforms. In other words, you should not consider any bank account that you do not see blue tick in your profile.
