Google May Acquire Firework

The challenge to shake the sound, Google plans to acquire the Firework short film application market

Foreign media reported that Google is considering acquiring the movie application Firework. Firework allows users to create and share short films, similar to the more popular TikTok.

Firework is headquartered in Sequoia, California, and is advertised as “The Future of Social Mobile TV.” Earlier this year, Firework received a $100 million valuation.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Google’s discussion on the acquisition of Firework. “This is to counter the vibrating overseas version of TikTok.”

Although the two application concepts are similar, allowing users to upload 30-second movies, Firework is more suitable for seniors. According to the Wall Street Journal, there are other possibilities besides buying, including “other ways of cooperation.”

The vibrato has been booming in overseas markets, attracting attention from many giants outside of Google.

Previously, Facebook’s internal conference recordings were exposed, talking about how to compete with the “jumping” of byte beats. CEO Mark Zuckerberg proposed a project to prevent the latest competitor’s “byte beating” video application “vibrato” from continuing to grow globally.

Facebook launched a similar product called Lasso, which was first launched in Mexico, where the vibrato has not yet entered and improved to extend the program to other places.

Overseas Extension Road

With a 15-second video, TikTok has captured the screens of many teen smartphones in the past year and has become a major competitor to Facebook, Instagram, and other social networking sites.

According to Sensor Tower, TikTok currently has 500 million users worldwide. In the first quarter of 2019, the number of new users reached 188 million, an increase of 70% compared with the number of new users in the first quarter of 2018. The main driver for rapid growth comes from the Indian market. The number of Indian users who installed TikTok for the first time last season was estimated at 88.6 million, 8.2 times the same period last year, with 99% installed from Google Play.

At the same time, the development situation is very good. The road to overseas expansion of Chaoyin is not smooth. During this period, in addition to the enthusiasm of friends at home and abroad, the relevant governments have continuously input the reverse driving force.

On April 3 this year, the judge of the Indian High Court of Madras issued a directive that TikTok contained pornographic content harmful to children and asked the Indian government to ban the download of TikTok from India.

The TikTok parent company Bytes Bounce Company appealed to the Supreme Court of India on the ban.

During the court hearing, on April 17, at the request of the Ministry of Electronics and Communication Technology of India, Apple and the Google India Application Store removed TikTok.

Invoking the Global Times, the Indian Supreme Court on the 22nd requested the Madras High Court to review the ban on the international version of TikTok and make a ruling on the 24th, otherwise, the ban will lapse.

India’s “First Post” commented on the 22nd that the Supreme Court hopes that the lower courts will examine the problems brought by TikTok in a global way. “In today’s world, it is useless to order the prohibition of application software.”

Recent news shows that after TikTok was removed, downloads from third-party websites surged 10-15 times. People’s curiosity has increased.

The Indian technology website Fossbytes said on the 22nd that the ban on TikTok may be canceled due to a lack of ruling. “We should protect children, but at the same time strike a balance between freedom and technology.” The First Post quoted experts on the 22nd as saying that a unilateral ban could also hurt foreign investment.

Outside of India, Bangladesh banned TikTok in February as part of a crackdown on pornography; in the same month, the US Federal Trade Commission said that TikTok violated the US Children’s Internet Privacy Policy, allowing underage users to use it without parental consent. A heavy penalty of $5.7 million was imposed on TikTok, the maximum amount required by the Children’s Privacy Protection Survey.

The surge in global users has also brought more problems to solve.

The contradiction that TikTok needs to solve at this stage is how to adapt to different policy situations and user preferences by increasing the intensity of censorship. Internet products overseas, roads and wide pits, should be cautious.
