Face ID: iPhone 12 will receive an updated system of Face ID and Lightning
Apple will update the Face ID system for upcoming iPhones, which will show in September. This was reported by the publication.MacRumors , citing Barclays analysts.
No details were provided about the new Face ID system. Here we can only assume what exactly will be updated. It seems logical to increase the angle of view, as well as the ability to recognize the user in the horizontal orientation of the smartphone. Maybe we are talking about reducing the size of the system while maintaining current performance indicators.
According to Barclays, the Pro version of smartphones will receive 6 GB of RAM, as well as a ToF camera (Time-of-Flight, time-of-flight camera) . Bloomberg reported the latest edition a year ago:
According to data held by Bloomberg last year, the iPhone 12 Pro will be complemented by a laser time-of-flight camera. It is necessary to determine objects in space.
This thing works like this: the laser “shoots” into space and “catches” what was reflected. Based on these data, the smartphone builds a three-dimensional picture of space. ToF is necessary for two things: for more effective blurring of the background in portrait mode and for augmented reality.
Also, Barclays analysts shared information that in 2021 Apple will show an iPhone without connectors. It is not yet clear whether this will be one model or several. However, this will be the fulfillment of Apple’s dream of an iPhone without any connector at all, which the company dreamed of even before the release of the iPhone X.
By the way, this is the second mention of the “portless” iPhone. A little more than a month ago, the well-known insider, Min-Chi Kuo, spoke about the same thing.
