Eco-friendly energy sources proved to be hazardous to nature
Eco-friendly energy sources have proved to be dangerous to nature. Scientists said that wind, solar and hydropower plants pose a growing threat to key conservation areas.
Researchers have found that over 2,200 of these stations were built on the territory of wildlife preserved on Earth. Overall, about 17% of all renewable energy sources are located in protected areas. Currently, they plan to establish another 900 stations in special territories.
Another problem with environmental energy sources is that they require much more area than, for example, for a thermal power plant.
“The energy facilities and the infrastructure around them, including roads, can cause incredible damage to the natural environment,” the scientists noted.
The main violators in the construction of alternative energy sources are Western European countries, in particular Germany.
