Destiny 2 Shadowkeep release date Until October 1st

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Bungie has announced the first delay in a destiny 2 Shadowkeep launch in the franchise’s history. Shadowkeep, previously slated for September 17th, will now be launching on October 1st, along with New Light, a 2-week delay. In addition to this news, the raid, called Garden of Salvation, will be launching October 5th, which is a Saturday, another first for destiny 2 Shadowkeep. It will launch with Contest active.

Also, Moments of Triumph are getting extended to September 17th, originally ending August 27th. There will be another Iron Banner during September as well, the week of September 17th. Finally, cross-save will be launching later this month of August, which means you’ll have time to handle all that before Shadowkeep actually launches. Luke Smith also hopes to do a lengthy “State of the Game” for Destiny 2 within the next week or two, which will discuss a wide array of things about Destiny 2, Shadowkeep and the game. Wow. Very big news for Destiny 2 Shadowkeep. This is the first delay that Destiny 2 Shadowkeep has had, but it may not have been the first time they actually wanted to delay, they just actually have the freedom to do those things because they’re no longer under Activision. And I say good.

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep

Everyone knows Destiny 2 Shadowkeep has had its launch based issues in the past and if this delay means that they get to keep working on things they see as problematic, then they should take the extra time they need to make it good. As for what could be causing the delays, like what features could be causing it, I don’t really have any specific idea.

Armor 2.0 is a large, core part of the game that is getting a rework, mods in a way are also getting a rework at least based on a few images from the ViDoc, that could be causing the problem, they could be reworking other parts of the core game experience that need more time, it’s a toss-up. Here’s a list of things I don’t know: everything. I don’t know if they’re bringing back Trials. I don’t know why exactly the game is delayed.

Armor 2.0 is my best guess, but seeing as we’ve learned very little about what’s happening with Shadowkeep, I don’t really have too much more than that. Is there a chance that Borderlands 3 was the cause of the delay? Slightest chance, I guess so, but I feel like if Bungie was not trying to compete with Borderlands 3, they would’ve made their original release date NOT 3 days after the Borderlands 3 launches.

This kind of delay very much feels like a “we need to make the game better,” delay and not “oh no, we don’t wanna compete with Borderlands 3,” delay. As for the raid launch, I think this is close to exactly what my raid group was hoping for and almost exactly what the community was hoping for. A raid launch on Saturday. This gives time for the average player to gear up and actually play the raid without having to take time off of work. My worry for the more hardcore players and the world first race is that 4 days may be too much time to gear up and I’m not talking about power levels. I’m talking about weapon loadout variety.

See, one of the “fun” parts about the raid race is dealing with sub-optimal load-outs. You don’t know what’s going to be good until you get there. If you’re given too much time to gear up, that means you can level up your entire arsenal and be ready for every single situation, which I think can take away from the experience a bit. Crown of Sorrow first time through wouldn’t have been as good of an experience if everyone came prepared with Mountaintop/Anarchy, at least I don’t think so. But, I think this race raid will be the closest to what everyone has wanted for a long time, so let do it.

Moments of Triumph getting extended to September 17th, not much to say about that, makes sense. They didn’t say Solstice of Heroes though, that is still ending on August 27th. Just to make that clear. There will also be another Iron Banner, so that’ll give some more time to get that quest done, which is good if you wanna put yourself through that. As for cross-save stuff, you’ll be able to activate cross-save in August, but Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is not going to Steam until October 1st, that date is locked with Shadowkeep launch. As a reminder, if you want to play on multiple platforms, you will need to own the content on those platforms that you want to play on. If you already own the game on PC, on battle.net,

it will transfer to Steam when Shadowkeep launches. As for what this delay means for me specifically and this channel, it means that I might end up doing Borderlands 3 video content now. Originally, with the September 17th launch, that would’ve given me 3 days to do Borderlands 3 stuff, which essentially meant I wasn’t going to do anything at all. Now, we have 2 weeks, so I can hopefully put in some time working on Borderlands 3 content.

No idea what I’m going to make, but I’ll see what I can do. Also, this means that I can go to TwitchCon now, so I’m going to work on buying tickets and hotel and plane and all of that during the week. I think that’s it, all I got on the delay. There will be more information coming out soon, Luke Smith’s State of the Game, This Week at Bungie update, so if there is enough video worthy stuff to discuss, I will make more videos. Sound good?
