5 nm Exynos 992 processor will power Samsung phones
Samsung has completed preparations for the Exynos 992 with 5 nm lithography . Mass production of the new 5G-powered processor will begin next August , according to reports . The Exynos 992 includes ARM’s latest Cortes-A78 cores and the Mali G78 graphics unit. While there is a 25 percent increase in graphics performance , 20 percent less energy will be consumed on the core side compared to the previous generation .
Exynos 992 processor with 5 nm lithography will host minor improvements compared to the 990 processor . The main performance increase is expected to be for the processor to be released in 2021. Qualcomm’s current flagship processor Snapdragon 865 uses a special version of Cortex-A77 and Cortex-A55 cores. If Snapdragon 865 Plus is introduced, its rival will be Exynos 992. However, Meizu’s general manager said that Qualcomm will not introduce a Plus processor this year.
Note 20 is expected to be the first model to come with Exynos 992 . According to industry experts, the new Exynos processor is only available in the South Korean market . Note models with Snapdragon processors can be sent to all markets abroad . The accuracy of this claim is not yet known. But recently, users have been pressing Samsung to use the Snapdragon processor in the European market .
